FEI Scholarships

Each year the Atlanta Chapter of Financial Executives International (FEI) seeks to recognize the contributions to the profession made by our educators and their students.  This recognition includes the selection of outstanding students to receive scholarships from our chapter.

The FEI Scholarships are presented at our March Dinner Meeting.  This year's meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 25th, at the Buckhead Club. The Buckhead Club is located at 3343 Peachtree Street N.E., Suite 1850, Atlanta, Georgia. Registration will begin at 5:30 pm followed by dinner at 6:20 p.m.  Typically, the scholarship presentations immediately precede the dinner meeting.

The FEI Scholar program recognizes the accomplishments of students with cash awards and certificates, with students selected to receive the FEI awards through the following process:

  1. Faculty members at selected qualified institutions are invited to nominate one student to be considered for one of five awards of $1,000 each. In addition to the cash award, the scholarship recipients will receive certificates recognizing their designation as FEI Scholars. The selected institutions are Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia State University, Kennesaw State University, Oglethorpe University, Clayton State University, and the University of Georgia.
  2. Qualified institutions consist of accredited colleges and universities that offer a minimum of four years of study that have a member in the Atlanta Chapter of FEI. These institutions grant a bachelor's or master's degree with a major or concentration in accounting, economics, or finance.
  3. We have expanded this year's program to allow immediate family members of Atlanta FEI professionals to compete for scholarships if the family members do not attend a selected institution. We ask that FEI family members have a professor at the school they attend submit the same required items.
  4. Students nominated must be juniors or first-year graduate students at the time of the award. Award winners will be designated as FEI Scholars for the academic year following the award.
  5. The award winners will be selected on a competitive basis by the Academic Relations Committee of the Atlanta Chapter of FEI. The award selection will be based primarily on the student's academic achievements, but will also include consideration of involvement in campus or community service, demonstration of interest in a financial career, and professional attributes identified by the nominating faculty member.  This last criterion is especially important to the selection committee since we would like to identify student scholars who will eventually become members of the community of financial executives.

Therefore, a complete student nomination package includes the following:

  1. Official or unofficial transcript with current GPA listed. (If a graduate student is nominated, a copy of undergraduate transcript is also needed.)
  2. Brief student resume.
  3. Brief letter of recommendation from the faculty member nominating the student for the award.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS:
The entire package should be sent to Debby Turner, Chair of the Academic Relations Committee, no later than Friday February 29, 2008. This is a very FIRM deadline since each student nominee will be notified of the committee's decision by Friday, March 7, 2008. NOTE: Be sure that the student's current mailing address and telephone number are included in the package for timely notification. The nomination package should be sent to the following address:
